Back in January, reports were circulating that Cole Palmer was considering a move from Chelsea to Manchester United. Both he and Liam Rosenior have since dismissed those rumours.
At the time, the talk was that Palmer was unhappy at Chelsea and even feeling homesick. But the visible frustration he showed, like after the Brentford game, was linked to a groin injury rather than any issues with the club.
Rosenior has called Palmer “untouchable,” and following his hat-trick on Saturday, Palmer himself used some strong language to dismiss those rumours. He’s under contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2033.
After the weekend, new reports suggested that Palmer might be open to a move to Man United if Chelsea were willing to sell for £150m. For fans, though, selling Palmer isn’t even up for discussion.
John Terry wants Cole Palmer to remain with Chelsea for the long term

Palmer has scored 42 Premier League goals for Chelsea, making him the club’s eighth-highest scorer in the competition’s history. At just 23, it’s easy to forget how young he still is.
On his TikTok channel, club legend John Terry praised Palmer for reaching that milestone – a mark that moved him ahead of Terry himself. The former captain made it clear he hopes Palmer stays at Stamford Bridge for years to come.
“Congratulations Cole Palmer on your hat-trick, but also for surpassing JT in the all-time [Chelsea] Premier League goals record list. Now in eighth, JT knocked down to ninth. This is one record I don’t mind losing.”
Terry added: “Hopefully, your goals continue, your form continues, and we can keep you at our football club for many years to come and keep adding to that tally. 84 appearances, 44 goals in the Premier League. Incredible.”
“Eight now behind Diego Costa; he’s the next one you need to chase down, but I’m sure he’d love to see that done by the end of the season,” Terry said as Palmer continued his regular scoring form.
Cole Palmer surpasses Didier Drogba’s early Chelsea goal tally
In all competitions, Palmer now has 51 goals from 114 Chelsea appearances, a total that stands out even before you consider his assists. After the same number of games, Didier Drogba had scored 49 times for the club.
It’s a remarkable comparison and one that adds further weight to Palmer’s growing status at Stamford Bridge. There are still questions about whether he’ll be fit enough to start against Leeds tonight, but Liam Rosenior has indicated he’s ready.
Palmer was substituted after an hour against Wolves, which might have played into the decision. Paul Merson recently said that Palmer is performing like a true number nine and his strike rate certainly supports that view.
At this point, it doesn’t look like Palmer will be leaving anytime soon. Not only does the club want to keep him around, but any move would likely trigger a massive backlash from supporters.
