Spain are gearing up for the 2026 World Cup final, looking to build on their Euro 2024 success.

They beat England to win the latest European Championships and are now one game away from being crowned World Cup champions for a second time.

La Roja last won the tournament in 2010 and are set to face off against the reigning champions, Argentina, at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday, July 19.

Ahead of the tie, former WWE wrestler John Cena has taken to Instagram to share a post related to the upcoming World Cup final, in which he likened Spain to WWE icon Stone Cold Steven Austin.

John Cena calls Spain ‘stone cold’ ahead of World Cup final

Taking to Instagram, Cena shared an interestingly edited photo prior to the final.

Spanish winger Lamine Yamal and Argentina star Lionel Messi had their faces edited onto Stone Cold Steven Austin’s body.

At the top of the image, the text read: “Stone Cold Spain vs Argentina,” obviously in reference to Steve Austin’s famous nickname.

Yamal and Messi are the biggest names competing at this year’s final, which could be viewed as a passing of the torch should Spain win.

Messi has been the best player in the world for many years, but the now-Inter Miami star is coming to the end of his career, and this will be his final World Cup for Argentina.

Yamal, on the other hand, is one of the brightest young talents in soccer and, at 19, could still eventually reach a similar level to Messi and other greats such as Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Spanish ace has had a fairly quiet 2026 World Cup so far, only scoring one goal for his country.

But a big performance in the final up against Messi would go a long way to cementing his legacy.
