Yannick Bolasie has praised Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock on Twitter amid speculation that the Gunners man is on his way to Newcastle United.

What’s the story?

The Athletic reported last night that Arsenal have agreed a fee with Premier League rivals Newcastle over the transfer of Willock to the Magpies.

Newcastle will pay in excess of £20 million for the 21-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at St. James’ Park.

Personal terms have yet to be agreed.

Yannick Bolasie’s verdict

Former Crystal Palace and Everton winger Bolasie is a big fan of Willock, and has responded to the speculation that the Englishman is on his way to Newcastle by saying that he is a “quality player”.

Are Arsenal making a mistake?

As we covered here on HITC Sport, some Arsenal fans on Twitter are really not happy that manager Mikel Arteta and Technical Director Edu are selling Willock this summer, and that too for a fee of around £20 million.

Willock scored eight goals in 11 Premier League starts for Steve Bruce’s side during the second half of last season.

The 21-year-old showed what he is capable of when given an extended run in the team.
