The Athletic are reporting this evening that Newcastle United are about to sign Joe Willock from Arsenal.
What’s the story?
It is being reported by The Athletic this evening (7:47pm) that Newcastle have agreed a fee with Arsenal for the permanent signing of Willock.
The Magpies will pay the Gunners in excess of £20 million to secure the services of the midfielder.
However, personal terms still need to be finalised.
Exciting for Newcastle fans
Newcastle fans absolutely loved Willock during his loan spell last season.
The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle from Arsenal.
Willock scored eight goals in 11 Premier League starts for Steve Bruce’s side.

The former England Under-21 international – described as “an amazing player” by Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin on Stadium Astro in May 2021 – was very dynamic in his approach and always made an impact.
Yes, personal terms still need to be sorted, but it does appear very likely that the youngster will be a Newcastle player before the Premier League season starts.
Willock was going to find it hard to play regularly for Arsenal this season, and a move to Newcastle make sense for his career.
