Even though Jiri Prochazka’s title win over Glover Teixeira in 2022 was one of the great fight comebacks, Joe Rogan had a different view of how it played out.

This weekend, Prochazka steps back into the spotlight, facing Carlos Ulberg in the main event at UFC 327 for another shot at the light heavyweight belt.

His original title run began with a dramatic victory against Glover Teixeira, a fight many still call one of the best championship bouts in UFC history.

Heading into that fifth round, Prochazka was trailing on two scorecards and needed to find something special to pull off a win. He did just that, securing a late submission to capture the belt.

Rogan insists Prochazka should have lost the title fight against Teixeira

In the final round, Prochazka ended up winning by rear-naked choke after Teixeira made a poor decision to go for a takedown while he had the upper hand.

Despite the outcome, Joe Rogan felt there was a moment earlier in the fight that should have stopped it from even reaching that point, calling attention to an unusual and controversial incident.

During the opening round, Teixeira had full mount and Prochazka appeared to tap on his back, saying ‘good job’ to the champion.

Rogan spoke about it last year on his podcast: “A lot of people were saying ‘this fight is bull, he tapped’, because it looked like he was ‘tapping’, he was on top of him beating him up.”

“He was patting Glover saying ‘good job, you’re doing a good job’. And Marc Goddard was telling him ‘hey, you’re playing a dangerous game because it seems like you’re tapping’.”

“A lot of people were saying ‘this fight is bull, he tapped’, because it looked like he was tapping. He was on top of him beating him up.”

Since there wasn’t an active submission at the time, referee Marc Goddard let the fight continue. Teixeira also didn’t raise any objections then or afterwards.

“Watch this, see he’s on top and he’s talking to him ‘good job’, see look, look at that,” Rogan said. “That’s a tap man. That’s a tap. You can’t do that.”
