As Tottenham Hotspur prepare to face Nottingham Forest, Jermaine Jenas has said that while he would love for Mauricio Pochettino to replace Antonio Conte, it all hinges on how much he is backed in the transfer market.

In the 2018/2019 season, the 51-year-old was famously not handed a single player in the transfer window by the Spurs board, which was the same campaign in which he led the side to their first and only Champions League final.

While the former Paris Saint-Germain boss did an unthinkably excellent job at the club, things could have been even better than they were if the recruitment was on par with his tactics.

As it seems as if Tottenham are considering bringing Mauricio Pochettino back as Antonio Conte could leave, Jermaine Jenas has had his say on whether it would be a good idea ahead of his former side’s clash against Nottingham Forest.

While some believe that it would be the ideal move from the Lilywhites to re-hire the former Southampton head coach, described as a ‘top manager’ by Pep Guardiola via Guardian, others feel it would be a safe, but largely uninspiring choice, as Peter Crouch and Jamie Carragher seemingly stated.

Jermaine Jenas said before Tottenham Hotspur’s clash against Nottingham Forest that while he would like to see Mauricio Pochettino come in for Antonio Conte, the situation is not as black and white as that.

“We weren’t happy to see him go”, he told BT Sport.

Jenas continued, “Just quickly on the Poch situation, it all comes down to whether they’re going to support him. He delivered above and beyond basically. Champions League football, Champions League final, didn’t sign any players for about 3 or 4 windows and when that moment came to really crack on, they didn’t back him, which is why it fell apart. I would take him back also.”
