Ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s upcoming clash against Nottingham Forest, Peter Crouch has admitted that he is unsure whether hiring Mauricio Pochettino as a replacement for Antonio Conte is the right next step.
The Argentine, who Ally McCoist and Laura Woods called a ‘great fit’ to return to Spurs has been at the centre of the speculation as it seems like a distinct possibility that the ex-Chelsea boss departs at the end of the season.
While Tottenham fans have had endless conversations about whether Antonio Conte should potentially be replaced by Mauricio Pochettino ahead of their contest against Nottingham Forest, Peter Crouch does not seemingly so.
Peter Crouch on replacing Antonio Conte for Mauricio Pochettino ahead of Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest
While some believe that the former Paris Saint-Germain boss is the perfect manager to fix the mess at the club, others believe that heading into a new direction remains key, such as Jamie Carragher.
Peter Crouch, much like the Liverpool legend said the same after he was quizzed about the prospect of Tottenham re-hiring Mauricio Pochettino after Antonio Conte departs ahead of their match against Nottingham Forest.
“We all love him as a manager. But the squad is very different to the one he had. Defensively even, [Toby] Alderweireld, [Jan] Vertonghen, [Danny] Rose. [Kyle] Walker, it’s a huge rebuild needed I think, player wise.”

“But also coming back doesn’t always work, some of the best memories have been written in recent history with Spurs have been under Pochettino. We all love him as a manager but I’m not sure coming back to this squad of players, which is not as good as the one he had. And it ended quite badly for him”, he told BT Sport.
The funny thing is that even the Tottenham fans that have voiced their desire for Mauricio Pochettino to come in for Antonio Conte in the build-up to their game against Nottingham Forest would agree with Peter Crouch in some ways.
Now, only time will tell whether the higher-ups bring the club legend back.
