Jeremy Jacquet was Liverpool’s only signing during a quiet January window, joining from Rennes for £21m.

FSG have funds available, and Jamie Carragher has been vocal about the need for more defensive reinforcements beyond Jacquet.

Supporters are keen to see him in action, but his debut is still a way off. In the meantime, there’s a chance he could feature for Rennes again before making the move official.

The defender is well thought of in France, and some insight into his career journey so far has come to light.

Jeremy Jacquet has overcome plenty of obstacles on his way to Liverpool, and the club have been impressed by how he’s handled those challenges.

He dislocated his shoulder during his first trial with Rennes and also dealt with Osgood-Schlatter disease as a teenager.

The NHS describes it as a condition that involves the tibial tuberosity, where the patella tendon connects to the shinbone. Repeated stress from activities like football can cause pain and swelling in that area, especially in young players who are still growing.

Several former and current footballers have had their careers affected early on by Osgood-Schlatter, including Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes, Marcus Rashford, and Jordan Henderson.

Jayden Danns missed several months due to Osgood-Schlatter disease

Liverpool academy graduate Jayden Danns, who is the same age as Jacquet, missed around eight months at the U16 level because of the condition and has spoken about what he went through during that period.

“In the space of such a short time, I think I went from 5ft 2in to 6ft. I was out for like eight months with Osgood and that was a tough time for me. You’re thinking, ‘Why’s this happening to me?’”

“But it makes you learn things and learn different ways to improve. If you look at me last season, I don’t think I was as powerful. I was a bit more leggy and Bambi-like!”

Danns is currently recovering from another injury setback and has not appeared in a match since September 2025.
