The Premier League is now in its final run-in and there is more fear than hope for Manchester United fans.

Yes, there is still a mathematical chance that Champions League football will be secured by the time the final ball is kicked in May.

But the performances on the pitch, as was proven during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at Brentford over the weekend, are proof that this team isn’t going anywhere fast.

That just puts extra pressure on Erik ten Hag’s future, with the team still in the FA Cup and now preparing for a Thursday night showdown against Chelsea in the Premier League.

Not many Manchester United players can hold their heads up high and claim that they have been consistent performers this term.

Everyone across the Premier League has had major injury issues this term, so this can’t be used as an excuse.

But amid all of the mess, chaos, inconsistency and frustration, Jeff Stelling named two players from Old Trafford – Diogo Dalot and Alejandro Garnacho – worthy of praise.

The popular presenter stated that the Portugal star has had a ‘really good season’, whilst their rising academy product is their ‘main threat’, as he told talkSPORT.

Diogo Dalot and Alejandro Garnacho

“If I were to say to you ‘Which Man United players have had good seasons this season’,” said Stelling. “It wouldn’t be a long list.

“Dalot has had a really good season. I think Garnacho, who was subbed the other night, has been their main threat.”

Erik ten Hag v Mauricio Pochettino

There is probably going to be more spotlight on these managers than the players on the pitch on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge.

Both are having very questionable seasons – Man United are aided by the fact that they are still in the FA Cup and are sitting sixth.

Chelsea can only fall back on the FA Cup and there is a chance the two meet again for a Wembley showpiece final.

Either way, ten Hag is under pressure and so is Pochettino. You just feel the loser of this match is going to get verbally battered by his fans.
