Jaylen Brown has offered some advice to Drake Maye following the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl LX defeat.

The Patriots were the underdogs against the Seattle Seahawks, but the game was more one-sided than many had imagined.

Mike Vrabel’s team failed to score a point until the fourth quarter as Maye failed to connect with his playmakers.

Brown has since explained why the Pats quarterback should not be too hard on himself over the offseason.

Brown commented on Maye’s underwhelming Super Bowl performance during a Twitch stream on Monday.

He sympathized with Maye, having had a similar experience when losing the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors in 2022.

“He’s 23 years old. He had a great season. He has a lot of potential in front of him,” said the Celtics forward.

“Even though the Super Bowl was probably a performance that he doesn’t feel great about… I’ve been there, I’ve been to the finals and lost, I know what it feels like.

“I know what that summer feels like. I remember I got sick physically. We lost in the finals to the Warriors, and I was so sick that I got sick. It’s true.”

Brown also offered Maye an encouraging message about using his disappointment as “fuel” to play better next season.

“Don’t let the hurt turn into something that could break your spirit. Go the other way,” he continued.

“Turn all that hurt into fuel, and I promise you, you’ll be better for it. Level up, come back even better.

“Could have been an MVP year, should have been an MVP year for Drake Maye. I stand on that. Come back even better and prove your doubters wrong.”

Drake Maye’s Super Bowl LX statistics

Drake Maye’s Super Bowl LX statistics were actually respectable. He threw for two touchdown passes and 295 passing yards.

He was also the Patriots’ leading rusher with five carries for 37 yards, ahead of Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson.

However, two other stats provide a more accurate representation of Maye’s struggles against the Seahawks defense.

The 23-year-old threw two interceptions and was sacked six times, the joint-second-most in NFL history.

It is also worth remembering that most of Maye’s production came in the fourth quarter when the game was effectively over.
