Redknapp has suggested that he expects Swansea City, Sunderland and Hull City to be in trouble come the end of the season.

Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail that he is expecting Swansea City, Sunderland and Hull City to be the ones who will be relegated from the Premier League this season.

Report: Sunderland’s hopes of landing one of their main summer targets virtually dashed

With 14 games to go, there is just two points separating Sunderland, who are currently sat at the bottom of the table, and Middlesbrough in 15th, so it is fair to assume that it could be any three of those six teams – although Bournemouth, Southampton and perhaps Burnley will still be looking over their shoulders at the moment – that could find themselves falling into the Championship.

But Redknapp is expecting Boro and Leicester to both keep their heads above water, and suggested that Palace will move themselves away from second-bottom and drag Swansea into the bottom three.

“In Sigurdsson they have a matchwinner but they may still go down. They have conceded the most goals in the division and didn’t do enough to address their defensive worries in the transfer window last month,” he told the Mail when explaining why he expects Swansea to go down.

When reflecting on Hull’s chances, the retired midfielder said: “The League Cup win over United has given them the confidence to go on a good run but I don’t think they have the bodies to turn this around.”

“I am a big fan of David Moyes but he has too much to do. Sunderland have ridden their luck season after season and I feel this would be one escape too far,” he added when discussing the Black Cats’ survival hopes.

It is interesting that Redknapp is expecting that trio of sides to fall through the trap door, given that all three have secured impressive wins in recent weeks.

Hull have beaten both Bournemouth and Liverpool since Marco Silva’s arrival, while they also secured a draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Sunderland secured a stunning 4-0 win over relegation rivals Crystal Palace in their last outing, while the Swans have also beaten Palace, as well as Liverpool and Southampton since the start of January, so all three appear to have some momentum on their side currently.
