Tottenham Hotspur fans will have huge interest in England’s Euro 2024 semi-final clash against the Netherlands on Wednesday.

Their star defender Micky van de Ven will be pushing for a start against familiar faces, as the Dutch aim to upset the favourites of the competition.

To the disappointment of Spurs fans, no player from Tottenham was picked to represent England

James Maddison was axed from England’s final Euro 2024 squad, with Harry Kane usually being the man who represents them on the big stage.

But he left Spurs last summer, in the quest for trophies and decided to join German giants, Bayern Munich.

Even though Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer netted 44 goals in all competitions for Munich, they finished the season trophyless for the first time since 2012.

And now many question if Kane will win a trophy in his career, as he hopes to do the ultimate and reach the top of the mountain with his country.

But Jamie O’Hara isn’t too pleased with how Kane has been performing for England at this summer’s major tournament.

The former midfielder compared Kane to Cristiano Ronaldo and how he simply can’t be dropped, even though he doesn’t deserve to be starting, as he told talkSPORT.

Should Harry Kane start for England v the Netherlands?

“Kane doesn’t look fit, he is killing the team,” said O’Hara. “You can’t argue against the fact that Kane hasn’t been performing.

“If we lose a game, it’s not because Kane hasn’t been on the pitch, because he has been ineffective anyway. He isn’t fit – you play either Ivan Toney or Ollie Watkins.

On you have to start Kane: “Because he is called Harry Kane,” responded O’Hara. “We have got a Ronaldo situation. I have said it before. We have got a Ronaldo situation. He isn’t the best striker in Europe.”

Trust Harry Kane

As Spurs fans would have seen week in and week out. Class is permanent for a reason.

Yes, Kane is looking sluggish right now and Tottenham transfer target Ivan Toney is probably a better option to start.

Or Aston Villa’s in-form forward Ollie Watkins, who was one of the best players in the Premier League during the recently concluded season.

But Kane should be trusted to be there at the right moment and get that killer goal, like he did when he netted the winning goal when England beat Slovakia in the last-16 of Euro 2024.
