Jamie O’Hara has blasted Cristian Romero after he got sent off in Tottenham Hotspur’s 0-0 draw against AC Milan, as they crashed out of the Champions League Round of 16.

Especially since returning from Qatar as a World Cup winner, the £165,000-a-week defender has been extremely rash time and again. In Spurs’ 1-0 win against Manchester City at home as well, the Argentine managed to get a needless red card.

As Tottenham colossus Cristian Romero was given the marching orders against AC Milan after a dangerous challenge on Theo Hernandez, Jamie O’Hara had no choice but to slate him.

Cristian Stellini seemingly agrees, as he did also admit that the former Atalanta centre-half has a habit of rushing into tackles.

Jamie O’Hara, who is known to a Tottenham supporter expressed his frustration about Cristian Romero after his side failed to beat AC Milan to reach the last 8 of the Champions League.

“He’s a liability though, James [the caller]. He’s a liability. As much as we all love him; he’s got passion, he’s got heart, I get that. But you look at top defenders. He’s won the World Cup! Look at top defenders that have played the game, they don’t look like they’ll get sent off every week. He can’t tackle!”, he said on talkSPORT.

On Twitter, he also said, “Romero [has] been a liability for us since the World Cup. It’s ridiculous, the fouls he makes.”

Cristian Romero needs to leave his reckless ways behind

Just recently, BBC pundit Garth Crooks branded the 24-year-old as a ‘revelation’ since joining the club in 2021.

While there is no denying that Cristian Romero possesses bundles of quality, Jamie O’Hara is also right in saying that as was on show against AC Milan, he has simply been indefensibly rash on far too many occasions for Tottenham.

And for a centre-back that is often put alongside some of the very best in the Premier League, that leaves a lot to be desired from him.
