Jamie Carragher has said Liverpool need to spend a whopping £200 million in the summer, with 3 new midfielders being top priority after the visitors suffered a 3-1 defeat to Brentford.
It’s hard to disagree with Carragher, as the Reds looked completely toothless in the midfield against the Bees.
As Jordan Henderson missed the game due to still reeling from the effects of a concussion, a trio of Thiago, Harvey Elliott and Fabinho were completely outclassed by Brentford.
While Fabinho put in a 6.5/10 performance as per our post-match Liverpool player ratings, both Thiago and Elliott were shocking on the night.
It’s only right that Jamie Carragher would slate the midfield, with the latter especially looking completely out of his depth.
Harvey Elliott’s dummy in the build-up to Yoann Wissa’s goal, which led to Brentford winning the ball back summed up a clueless outing from the youngster.
As for Thiago, he was surprisingly sloppy against Thomas Frank’s men, as Liverpool were brutally beaten on Monday night.

Liverpool urges Liverpool to spend £200 million and buy 3 midfielders in the summer
Jamie Carragher said Liverpool must go out and spend a staggering £200 million in the summer transfer window, while adding 3 new midfielders to their ranks, after their loss to Brentford.
“The ownership, it’s either for sale or they’re looking for investment because Liverpool are going to need to go big in the summer.”
“You’d think what Chelsea and Manchester United spent in the summer and they’re still not close to winning the title, so it shows you the sort of funds that you need to compete at the top of the league.”
“Liverpool, year in, year out have sold someone, bought someone. But I think this is a case of now, Liverpool need to spend about £200 million.”
“And I’m not saying that in terms of, that’s the secret to success because there’s been lots of teams who have spent lots of money, [it] doesn’t necessarily work.”
“But Liverpool need 3 midfield players, I would say”, he said on Sky Sports.
Jamie Carragher is certainly right, as spending up to £200 million and bringing in 3 new midfielders would be enough to take Liverpool to the next level.
