James Tavernier confident Rangers boss will try to sign new players in January

Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier is confident that the Ibrox club will try to sign new players in the January transfer window.

Rangers legend Barry Ferguson recently wrote in his column for the Daily Record that the Gers need to bolster their squad in the January transfer window.

At the same time, he was skeptical about the funds to be made available to Graeme Murty to sign players of his choice.

Rangers were very active in the summer transfer window, with ex-manager Pedro Caixinha making a wholesome change to the squad. Therefore, Rangers may not have sufficient funds to go out in the market and sign up their targets.

However, Gers defender, James Tavernier, is confident that the Ibrox club will be busy in the winter transfer window as well. He says that he is “sure” Murty will be trying to strengthen the squad in the coming weeks.

The 26-year-old defender also adds that freshening up the squad is good for the club, as it keeps everyone on their toes.

“I am sure the manager will be trying to strengthen the squad in the coming weeks. Freshening things up is also good as it keeps everyone on their toes and ensures that we all keep performing well,” said Tavernier, as quoted by the Evening Times.

Rangers are third in the Scottish Premier League table, 11 points behind Celtic. They should be aiming to finish above Aberdeen this season, and close the gap with the Bhoys as much as possible.
