Glasgow Rangers should recall loan players to the Ibrox club, according to club hero Barry Ferguson.
Since their return to the Scottish Premiership at the start of last season, Rangers, undoubtedly, put in their best performance against Celtic as the drew 0-0 on Saturday.
The Gers legend, Barry Ferguson, was impressed with the performance from his old club. However, he says it is important that Rangers draw positives from the game, and move on in the right direction.
Rangers have been very inconsistent with their performance and results this season, and therefore it is important that they do not get carried away with the second half performance.
The Gers made a wholesome change to their squad in the summer, and Ferguson believes that more additions are required.
He says that the club need to bring in new players, but whether they will have the funds to delve in the market remains to be seen.
The squad is thin on options, and at the very least the Gers should look to recall their loan players, especially – Michael O’Halloran and Andy Halliday.
O’Halloran is currently on loan at St Johnstone where he has scored five goals in 11 league games. Halliday, 26, is currently on loan at Gabala where has managed just three games.
“So what do Rangers take from this game as they head off on the winter break with a spring in their step?,” wrote Ferguson in his column for The Scottish Daily Record.
“Well for a start I hope they don’t get carried away with it because it’s only one 45-minute performance. Realistically, they do need to add to the squad but whether the finances allow, no one seems to know.
“At the very least they need to recall the loan players like Michael O’Halloran and Andy Halliday because the squad is thin on options.”
