Dimitri Payet has struggled so far this season for West Ham United.

James Collins has told West Ham United’s official website that it is only a matter of time before Dimitri Payet hits form again.

Payet was West Ham’s talisman last season, and he enjoyed a wonderful first campaign in English football.

However, the French international has not found his feet this term – and West Ham fans have become frustrated.

Some Hammers supporters were claiming that Payet was overrated after West Ham failed to beat Stoke City in their latest outing, but Collins believes that Payet will be back to his best once again in the near future.

“If you look at last season and the Euros, Dimi was fantastic and other teams will have seen that and, when they focus on certain players in our team, they will all be talking about Dimitri Payet,” the Welsh international defender said.

“He’s a marked man but he’s a world-class player, so I am sure we will see what he is all about in the next couple of months.”

Payet’s most memorable moment of the season so far came against Middlesbrough, when he scored a quite brilliant solo goal.

The former Marseille man has otherwise been quiet, by his own high standards though, and West Ham have struggled as a result.

The Hammers are currently in 17th place in the Premier League, and they sit just one place above the relegation zone.
