James Maddison is open to moving to London amid interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the Leicester City attacking midfielder, according to 90min.

What’s the story?

90min are reporting today that Arsenal are interested in signing Maddison from Premier League rivals Leicester in the summer transfer window.

The Foxes are open to selling the 24-year-old for a big offer.

The England international himself is open to a move away from Leicester to another club, ‘particularly to one in London’.

Could an Arsenal transfer happen?

It seems that there is willingness from Arsenal, Leicester and Maddison to get a deal done.

The Gunners want the attacking midfielder. He is open to a move. And the Foxes are willing to cash in on him.

Now, the key will be whether an agreement can be reached between Leicester and Arsenal.

Former Leicester and Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker does not want Maddison to join Arsenal.

Lineker said earlier this month that it would be “a backward step” for the attacker.

Arsenal finished below Leicester last season, and the Foxes have also won the Premier League more recently than the Gunners.

However, Arsenal are a massive club and are a global brand.

The Gunners could be challenging for major trophies under manager Mikel Arteta in the coming years.

A move to Arsenal would be tempting for any footballer.
