Just days before the scheduled fight, Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis has officially been cancelled.

Paul, who’s made a name for himself in boxing after his time on YouTube, was set to face off against Davis in a matchup that drew interest due to the significant size difference between the two. The fight was supposed to air on Netflix but has now been pulled from the schedule.

No official explanation has come from Netflix or Most Valuable Promotions yet. But the news follows recent comments from MVP that they were looking into allegations connected to a civil trial involving Davis.

Paul vs Davis pulled just days before fight night

Neither Paul nor Davis spoke publicly on the decision at first, though Paul did post on X: “God has a plan. Always.” The official announcement from Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix read: “Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix have announced that Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis, originally scheduled for Friday, November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, will no longer be moving forward.”

Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, said: “Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly. While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025.

“Details regarding a new date, location, Jake’s opponent, and additional bouts will be shared as soon as they are finalized. We thank Netflix, the Kaseya Center, and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their partnership.”

The statement continued: “Most Valuable Promotions appreciates the continued support and understanding of our athletes, partners, sponsors, and fans as we work to finalize updated event plans.

“Fans who purchased tickets via Ticketmaster for the Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis event will get an automatic refund through their original point of purchase within 14-21 days. Fans who purchased through secondary markets should contact them. For ticket assistance, please contact [email protected].

“MVP thanks everyone for their patience and looks forward to delivering an extraordinary boxing event in 2025; live globally only on Netflix.”

Jake Paul’s next bout will take place in 2025

Unlike the time last year when Jake Paul’s fight with Mike Tyson was postponed because of the heavyweight legend’s health issues, this latest cancellation doesn’t look like it’ll be rescheduled. Back then, Paul still put his training camp to use by taking a short-notice fight against Mike Perry.

That time, Netflix didn’t approve the replacement, so the event moved over to DAZN pay-per-view. This time, though, Netflix is backing his plan to fight later in the year, which points towards him landing another big-name opponent.

The shortlist has reportedly included Terence Crawford, Francis Ngannou, Nate Diaz, Ryan Garcia and most recently Andre Ward. Ngannou and Garcia have both publicly distanced themselves from the event in some form. And after their underwhelming first meeting, Diaz doesn’t seem likely either.
