Jake Paul has revealed that Nate Diaz offered to step in with just two weeks’ notice after his super-fight against Gervonta Davis fell through.

The social media star was set to face Davis next week, but the fight was called off. While Paul is still expected to return later this year on Netflix, no opponent has been confirmed yet, and it appears Diaz isn’t under consideration for the slot.

Paul and Diaz previously faced each other in 2023, drawing over half a million pay-per-view buys as the MMA veteran was dropped and lost by unanimous decision. Paul had also expressed interest in facing Diaz in the PFL cage, but no agreement has been reached.

Jake Paul shows respect for Nate Diaz despite rematch not happening

Jake Paul recently commented on social media, giving credit to Nate Diaz. Their rivalry didn’t end after their fight in 2023, and there was a chance they could have met again next week.

The bout with Gervonta Davis had been scheduled for November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami before being called off. Diaz was approached to step in as a replacement but the rematch wasn’t finalised.

Paul commented on a Most Valuable Promotions post, saying: “Nate Diaz is a f—ing G. It isn’t meant to be, but respect for willing to step up on two weeks notice. So many p—ies at the top of this sport with excuses.”

Jake Paul slams Gervonta Davis after fight cancellation

Paul vs Davis was cancelled just 11 days before the bout, with MVP and Netflix confirming the decision without giving a specific reason.

However, just days before, MVP had mentioned they were looking into some recent accusations against Davis.

Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, said: “Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly. While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025.”

Paul didn’t hold back after the news broke. Posting to his millions of followers across X and Instagram, he wrote: “Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage.”

“Working with him is an absolute nightmare,” he continued. “The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots. To the numerous arrests and related accusations and lawsuits. If you support this man you support the most vile sin a man can commit.”

Paul also claimed that he didn’t want to help his rival build his fanbase or bank account.

“My company champions women,” he said. “I’m so sorry to everyone involved. Mostly to the undercard fighters, to my team at MVP and to my team who worked so hard prepping for this fight.”
