Adam Lallana has claimed that it has been a ‘tough few months’ for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at Liverpool.
On Tuesday night, as Liverpool beat Southampton 2-1, Jurgen Klopp expressed that he was annoyed with himself at not bringing Oxlade-Chamberlian onto the pitch.
Oxlade-Chamberlain falls into that bracket of Liverpool players that aren’t good enough to play on a regular basis for the first team.
But he is needed for that squad depth, although he has seemingly fallen even further down the pecking order.
Either way, Brighton midfielder Lallana, spoke about his former teammate not coming on at St Mary’s and how he has been there himself, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
“It has been a tough few months for Chambo,” said Lallana. “Not being involved. I have been there myself.
“It’s hard to manage your own ego at times because you want to be playing. You feel sorry for yourself.
“At times, you do have to act. When you are down, you have to put a brave face on to support your teammates. And you can be proud of doing that.
“Come the end of the season, he has contributed. When the lads were at AFCON’s in January, he put in some unbelievable performances. He scored some important goals, so he has contributed massively. It was great to see him on the bench and celebrate with his players.”

COULD OXLADE-CHAMBERLIAN LEAVE IN THE SUMMER TRANSFER WINDOW?
Over the course of the season, the 28-yer-old has played 29 games across all competitions, scoring three goals and supplying the same number of assists.
The last time he was on the pitch for a Premier League game was back in February when he started his side’s win against Norwich.
Come the summer transfer window, the former Arsenal player will be one spoken about regarding his future.
Ex-Red Jose Enrique has urged the Reds to sell Oxlade-Chamberlain, alongside Nabi Keita, and bring in Jude Bellingham instead.
Now, it’s highly unlikely that dream scenario will occur, but one thing is for sure, the player in question has to think about his future.
