Pedro Neto says his Wolves side knew they had a chance to ‘kill’ Tottenham Hotspur on the counter-attack during their Premier League encounter on Saturday.

Wolves recorded a deserved 2-1 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with both goals coming from fast breaks.

It could have and probably should have been more, but Guglielmo Vicario was once again pulling off high-quality save after high-quality save for Tottenham.

The much-sought-after Pedro Neto was involved in the winning goal because it was his bursting run down the right flank that resulted in Joao Gomes then firing the ball home.

After the game, the 23-year-old stated it’s ’true’ that those three points for Gary O’Neil’s side against a team like Tottenham is a big statement, as he told BBC Sport.

That defeat turned the tide once more in the race for Europe, with Spurs now falling out of the top four, but those at Molineux are now only three points behind seventh-placed Brighton.

All in all, Pedro Neto was understandably delighted with his team’s win and how the opposition’s high press helped them to the win.

“We knew that they were pressing higher and we had opportunities to kill on the counter,” said Neto. “We win as well and killed the game, so it was really good.

On a big statement winning at a place like Tottenham: “It’s true. The way we are going or the way the season begins and the way we are now, people can see the value we have and we want more.”

Will Pedro Neto leave Wolves?

There is big interest in the Portugal international in the summer, with sources telling HITC Football that Wolves won’t stand in his way of leaving, but they want a club-record transfer fee.

After watching Neto in action at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, John Barnes stated that he wants the speedster at Liverpool.

But they aren’t the only ones keen on his talents, north London duo Arsenal and Spurs have been much talked about also.

Either way, if you want to secure Neto’s talents, then you probably have to go a long way to get his signature because, in this inflated transfer market, Wolves aren’t going to let him go that easy.
