Speaking on his YouTube channel, Goal journalist Charles Watts has named American goalkeeper Matt Turner as the likeliest player to sign for Arsenal this month.
The Gunners have been trying to bolster their squad this window. They’ve been linked with a plethora of strikers and midfielders, but as of yet, nothing has really materialised on either of those fronts.
However, they’re seemingly having a bit more luck when it comes to pursuing a new goalkeeper, as Watts says Turner is the closest player to joining the London club.
What’s been said about Turner?
Watts shared what he knows about the American.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the goalkeeper Matt Turner came in between now and the end of the window. Certainly from people I’ve been speaking to, they believe that it’s the closest to any deal that could potentially happen. It’s not one that’s going to set the fanbase alight is it? But Arsenal, from what I understand, are quite hopeful that that may be done between now and the end of the window, so that’s one to keep an eye on,” Watts said.
Someone else then asked which position is the likeliest to be bolstered in the coming days, to which Watts said:
“I think the likeliest, as I said earlier on, is goalkeeper. That’s what I understand from people I speak to is the closest of any deal to be done is Matt Turner coming in, the American international goalkeeper as the new number two.”

Not the most exciting
To be honest, this isn’t the most exciting update.
Arsenal fans probably thought they were set for a massive window when it was reported that they were bidding large amounts for Dusan Vlahovic earlier this month, and now, their likeliest signing is a second-choice goalie.
Who knows? Perhaps Turner will be an incredible addition, but at this moment in time, it’s hard to really get enthused about this one.
