New Arsenal signing Auston Trusty was lost for words when he found out that he will be heading to the north London club this summer.
In an interview with the Colorado Rapids’ official Twitter account, the 23-year-old spoke about his delight at signing for the north London club and the new adventure that lies ahead of him this summer.
Trusty was a surprise deadline day signing for Arsenal and the only incoming the Gunners completed and announced in the January transfer window. New England Revolution shot-stopper Matt Turner is also expected to sign for Mikel Arteta’s side according to reports.
Indeed, Trusty became the first player to sign for Arsenal from MLS, and speaking about the experience, the former Philadelphia Union star seemed genuinely shellshocked over the whole thing.
MLS players moving to Europe have increased rapidly over the past few years, yet Trusty finds himself the first name to move to a big-six Premier League club since the likes of Jack Harrison and DeAndre Yedlin. And the defender seemed stoked.
Trusty said on his move to Arsenal: “It’s surreal. It’s been a long process and a dream of mine since I was a little kid. I’m just speechless, it’s such a big club and a big opportunity, and I’m honoured to be in the position I am today. I’m ready to go.”
Trusty success could lead Arsenal to more MLS signings

With MLS exploding into life and more players making the move to Europe, Trusty has the potential to not only be a success for Arsenal, but also open the north London club up to a new market that the Gunners have rarely ventured into.
After all, Brexit regulations has made it easier for Premier League clubs to sign players from the likes of MLS. And with the talent in the US and Canada increasing with every year, Trusty performing well for Arsenal could open a very exciting door for Mikel Arteta’s side.
