Glenn Hoddle lauded Mohamed Salah after he returned from injury to help Liverpool record a valuable 4-1 win at Brentford on Saturday.
The 31-year-old entered the pitch in unfortunate circumstances because Diogo Jota was stretchered off with a worrying-looking knee injury.
At the time, Liverpool were 1-0 ahead, with Diogo Jota playing a part in Darwin Nunez’s cooly finished goal, before Mohamed Salah stole the show.
Ten minutes after the restart, he played a delightful ball for Alexis Mac Allister to score, which Glenn Hoddle described as ‘top quality’ and ‘so good’, as he told Premier League Productions (17/02/24 at 8:10 pm).
The Liverpool speedster then pounced on some woeful defending from Brentford by taking the game away from Thomas Frank’s side, before Cody Gakpo sealed the icing on the cake.
It was Mohamed Salah at his destructive best and he probably hasn’t warmed up properly after returning from being in the treatment room for a number of weeks.
That’s now an incredible 15 goals from 21 league matches, including nine assists, with only five games where he hasn’t scored or assisted this season.
That’s why Glenn Hoddle was so eager to sing his praises after another performance to remember from Liverpool’s star man.
Mohamed Salah’s return for Liverpool
“This is top quality from Salah,” said Hoddle about the lead-up to Mac Allister’s goal. “Mac Allister hasn’t got a clue that he is actually going to be scoring the goal. Salah’s pass is so good. He then picks him out after picking up the Micky Mouse defending from Brentford.
On Salah’s goal: “He is so strong and just shrugs off the centre-back. They go to sleep, but he doesn’t. He is alive, on the front foot and on his toes. Bang and the finish is tremendous.”

Mohamed Salah’s passing and creativity
Everybody understandably talks about Salah’s goalscoring ability, it’s unbelievable and one of the best in Europe.
But his passing and creative brain goes under the radar because he can get into the XI and push for the title with that alone.
His pass for Mac Allister’s goal was sensational vision and outstanding execution from the Egypt star.
It’s just another example that he is possibly the best player in the Premier League right now, with Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne the other one in the debate.
