Declan Rice has shared a brilliant exchange he has with a Rangers F.C. fan whilst playing for West Ham at Ibrox in pre-season this summer.

The West Ham midfielder shared that because it was pre-season ‘you can hear everything’ and a Rangers fan proceeded to shout his name, before he looked over and he was giving him certain hand gestures.

Rice then added that he just started ‘laughing’ before the fan gave him a ‘thumbs up’, as he described it as ‘quality’, as he told Tube and Ange’s Golf Life

Rangers beat the English Premier League side 3-1 during that game, with Rice starting the game in the middle of the park, before being taken off at half-time given that it was early in their pre-season preparations.

Nonetheless, Rice spoke about his exchange with a Rangers fan whilst out on the pitch, in which he responded by just simply ‘laughing’ away and how he loves getting stick from away fans.

“I love getting stick from the opposition fans,” said Rice. “I think they get all angry and give to you and think ‘Oh, I am going to give him a bit back’. But I am actually buzzing off it. ‘Come on, give me more’.

“Then, when you give it to them back, I got it at Rangers the other day. Someone shouted my name, because it’s pre-season, you can hear everything.

“Someone shouted by name out ‘Declan!’, then I have turned around and he is giving me ____ sign with his hand and I have started laughing.

“And then he has done the thumbs up. Thanks, mate. It’s quality.”

RANGERS FAN AND RICE

It’s great to see that Rice has seen the funny side to this all because in today’s world some people could easily moan for no reason.

The English midfielder is a popular figure amongst fans given his easy nature and the maturity he is showing for a 23-year-old.

That’s why David Moyes has handed the hard-hitting midfielder the captain’s armband for West Ham’s forthcoming campaign after Mark Noble’s retirement.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if, down the line, Rice is possibly donning the armband of England, with Harry Kane currently leading his troops out.
