Celtic fell 18 points behind their rivals on Sunday

At this stage it’s only Rangers fans who want Neil Lennon to remain at Celtic.

That’s the view of former Parkhead star Chris Sutton, who saw the Scottish champions slip up once again on Sunday night.

A 1-0 defeat against Ross County in Dingwall meant they ended the weekend 18 points behind their greatest rivals, who now have the opportunity to end Lennon’s 10-in-a-row dreams at Celtic Park.

Both sides have two games to play before the derby on March 21st, and if the gap remains the same going into that game a solitary point will be enough for Rangers to be crowned champions.

Sutton has been one of numerous pundits calling for Lennon to leave this season, and the discontent from fans continues to grow in the wake of their latest embarrassing defeat.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live 606, Sutton said: “Well it’s embarrassing. It’s been a really embarrassing season for Celtic.

“A shocking season. Ross County are at the bottom and to lose to them… Things aren’t getting any better.

“Just looking across social media, the majority of Celtic fans are saying Lennon must go. You have Rangers fans saying ‘Lennon – can he stay?’.

“But it’s overwhelming. No Celtic fan wants Neil Lennon to stay.”

Lennon apologised after the match, telling Sky Sports: “I’m sorry, we’ve let them down again.

“It’s not for the want of trying to win a game of football. So we are bitterly disappointed with that.

“I don’t know, maybe they don’t want to get hurt or throw their body in the way of things. It’s not good enough.

“There’s been scrutiny on me all the time. I don’t think that is going to change.

“This is a result that has happened but we were in total in control and the chances we missed in the first half were unbelievable.”
