William Saliba has criticised his recent performances away from Arsenal, with February being a disappointing month for Olympique Marseille as a club.
Speaking to RMC Sport, Saliba held his hands up and admitted that his form over the past few games have been below par, with Marseille winning just one of their last five Ligue 1 games with problems off the pitch continuing to steal headlines.
Jorge Sampaoli has fallen out with numerous players, and these soap-opera episodes have taken their toll on the club, with Marseille in a poor run of form despite looking impressive for the majority of the season.
And these events have seemingly taken their toll on Saliba, who has been poor in recent weeks and has struggled for form, with the Arsenal defender not keeping a league clean sheet since late January.
A £27m signing in 2019 as per BBC Sport, Saliba is expected to be part of Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans next season for Arsenal, and the defender has won praise from Marseille fans following his recent comments on his performances for the French giants.
Saliba said when asked about his recent form: “Since February, I’ve been average. There’s no need to hide. I know that I need to work, I’m a young player, but it’s no excuse. I’m going to give everything to get back to my good level.”
Saliba will bounce back from defensive slouch for Marseille

Bad runs hit every club and player at some point in the season, yet for Saliba to admit he is having a poor streak of form at his young age is a bold thing to do, and it is no wonder why his recent comments have won him praise from Marseille fans.
Indeed, the French club still look likely to finish in a UEFA Champions League spot, and if Saliba can regain his form with Marseille in the coming weeks, it will be a major boost for their chances of a top-three finish in Ligue 1.
