David Ornstein has warned that Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal is by no means a done deal as of yet, claiming there’s a lot of ‘premature reporting’ going around.
The Brazil international is heavily linked with a transfer to Arsenal and is reported to be willing to join Mikel Arteta’s side this summer.
Jesus has a number of other interested parties – like Chelsea and Tottenham – but Goal claimed this week that a transfer to the Emirates Stadium could be done within days.
And although Ornstein – who writes for The Athletic – acknowledges that the signs are pointing toward a move to the Gunners, the reliable journalist said nothing is certain at the moment.
He told Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel: “It’s a bit of a glove-fit for them. They want him, he seems open to the move, they’ve got the position available now. There has been a lot of premature reporting so far, but clearly, it’s not far off, it’s just not there yet.”

As you can imagine, he won’t be cheap.
In fact, Gabriel Jesus would be Arsenal’s second-most expensive striker of all time, behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and ahead of Alexandre Lacazette.
It will cost the Gunners around £50 million to bring the South American hitman to the Emirates Stadium.
It’s a lot of money but, having lost Lacazette on a free this month, it’s vital that Mikel Arteta – who has tied Eddie Nketiah down to a new contract – signs at least two number nines to compete with the Englishman next season.
And if that’s the figure then, well, Arsenal simply must pay it because the longer this is drawn out, the more likely it’ll be that Spurs or Chelsea nab him.
