Antonio Conte has admitted that Harry Kane’s form for Tottenham Hotspur right now is ‘very strange’, as per his comments to the club’s official website.

Kane’s struggles continue

Kane has just one goal and one assist in 13 Premier League matches for Spurs this season.

He continued to struggle for goals against Norwich City yesterday, despite Tottenham running out 3-0 winners in the tie.

Kane had a presentable opportunity in the first half, but he chipped over from range, and then a long-range drive in the second period was turned round the post by Tim Krul.

Kane also had a decent opportunity to end his drought from a cross by Ryan Sessegnon, but he headed wide when well placed.

It, ultimately, was another rather frustrating afternoon for the England captain.

But Conte was insistent that he was pleased with the Tottenham goalscorer’s performances, even if the goals don’t seem to be coming.

“It’s a pity for Harry. It’s a moment, for sure, which is very strange because he’s not scoring,” he said.

“But I’m happy for his performance. The fans have to be happy for the commitment, the passion and what he put for the shirt.

“As a manager I’m very pleased to have him in my team. For sure, at the right moment when he shoots, he scores. Now when he is shooting for one reason or another he isn’t scoring. But I’m not worried because I know he is fantastic player.”

Exciting signs

If Tottenham can get Kane back in top form again then the signs are starting to look very promising.

Conte has taken 10 points out of a possible 12 since arriving at Spurs, which has pushed them right back into top four contention.

Tottenham are likely to need Kane to start hitting the back of the net if they are to sustain their push, though.

While Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura are stepping up to help cover for Kane while he finds form, Spurs need their main goalscorer at his very best.

Kane could realistically point towards a lack of service being the reason for his struggles under Nuno, but there can be no such excuses under Conte

And Tottenham fans will be hoping that Kane can get back into the groove sooner rather than later, with their next match coming against Rennes on Thursday.
