Robbie Savage has claimed that Gabriel Jesus would score a ‘minimum of 15 goals’ for Arsenal if he joins from Manchester City this summer, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
The former Premier League midfielder added that Jesus would be a ‘good signing for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta.
The 25-year-old is being tipped to reunite with Arteta in north London, as the Gunners search for that all-important number nine heading into the new Premier League season.
Eddie Nketiah recently put pen-to-paper on a new Arsenal contract, but clearly, the Englishman needs more competition and help if Arteta’s side are to score the crucial goals next season.
With Jesus’ name being floated about as a possible addition this summer, Savage backed the idea and thinks he would do the business in front of goal.
“I think that would be a good signing,” said Savage. “He has got 58 goals in 159 games for Manchester City. Is Nketiah (a 20-goal Premier League striker)?
“I think if Gabriel Jesus does go to Arsenal, then he will get a minimum of 15 goals.”
JESUS IS MORE THAN A GOALSCORER
The best part of Jesus’ game is his ability to connect the whole team together and play a pivotal role in getting those around him to tick.
A bit like Roberto Firmino at Liverpool, the Brazilian star has this great ability to drop into pockets, find space for his teammates and drag the opposition out of their shape.
If Jesus joins Arsenal, then he will be expected to play a similar role under Arteta, but he will also be expected to find the back of the net on a regular basis.
The question then has to be asked, does he have the quality to be that regular goalscorer that the Gunners crave heading into next season?
