Speaking on the Sky Sports Football Podcast, Jamie Redknapp has shared details of a conversation he had with Steven Gerrard about Liverpool target Jude Bellingham on Monday.
England got their World Cup campaign underway on Monday afternoon, and one of the stars of the game was Bellingham.
Interestingly, according to Redknapp, Gerrard highlighted Bellingham as a key player before a ball was kicked, with Redknapp stating that the pundit told him just as the players were coming out that Bellingham was one to keep an eye on.

Gerrard praised Bellingham
Redknapp shared what Gerrard said to him about the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.
“Funnily enough, it was weird. Just before the game Stevie and I were talking just as the players were coming out and he said ‘cor he looks a talent doesn’t he, what a player he is.’ I remember Stevie when he was 17 just getting into the Liverpool team and you realise you’re in the presence of greatness because they move the ball differently and I think Jude is a bit like that,” Redknapp said.
Loves him
It’s no secret that Steven Gerrard is a massive fan of Bellingham.
Before the tournament he named the midfielder as a player he was a huge fan of, and he echoed that sentiment to Redknapp before the big kick-off on Monday.
It’s not hard to understand why Gerrard is such a huge fan of Bellingham. He’s very much a player in the same mould as the Liverpool legend, and the fact that he may soon be headed to Anfield is, of course, a huge bonus.
Gerrard is absolutely right about the Borussia Dortmund star, he is a talented player and he could continue to light this tournament up.
