Fabrizio Romano has told Give Me Sport that Liverpool are already in talks with people close to Dortmund and England star Jude Bellingham over a transfer, likely to be next summer. Bellingham is expected to go at the end of the season.

Bellingham landed in Qatar alongside his 25 England teammates on Tuesday. The quick turnaround saw him clock up the most miles in the last few days, meeting up with Gareth Southgate’s side at St. George’s – flying in from Germany.

The 19-year-old has continued to shine for Dortmund this season. He has already played 112 times for Dortmund since joining the club from Birmingham City. This season, he has had a hand in 12 goals from midfield for the German side.

Even captaining Dortmund on occasion. Romano says Liverpool have opened talks with those close to Bellingham. It comes after the Reds continue to be linked – but that Manchester City and Chelsea could sign Bellingham (The Sun).

“Liverpool will be in the race, 100 per cent,” Italian transfer expert Romano told Give Me Sport. “They’re already in contact with people close to Jude Bellingham, so Liverpool will be there.”

Romano: Liverpool in talks with people close to Bellingham

The issue Liverpool have – aside from competition from the likes of City, Chelsea and Spain’s biggest clubs – is their current form. Bellingham is easily a Champions League player and will only want to join a club in the competition.

The Reds have made a woeful start to the Premier League campaign. They sit in sixth place. Arsenal and Manchester City look nailed on to finish in the top four. Tottenham, Newcastle, Chelsea and Manchester United are all fighting.

So, can Liverpool finish in the top four? Well, they need their injured players fit again – and they need signings in January. If Jurgen Klopp can rejuvenate his players, then they have a chance. In turn, that may tempt Bellingham.
