Club Brugge star Antonio Nusa has offered an update about his injury situation after January interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham added two new signings in January as both Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin arrived.

A first summer signing is also in the door as Lucas Bergvall will be arriving from Djurgarden at the end of the season.

Tottenham did also look into another January addition, one which would have ended up joining in the summer.

Spurs identified Club Brugge wonderkid Antonio Nusa as a key target and HITC Football understood that talks were going well over a summer move.

However, Brentford swooped in and agreed a £25million deal for Nusa, putting them on the brink of signing the teenager.

There was another twist to come though as Nusa’s medical didn’t go to plan, leaving Brentford to back away and leave Nusa in limbo.

Tottenham target Antonio Nusa on medical issues

Spurs will surely still be keeping tabs on Nusa and a summer move could yet be rekindled now his issues are out of the way.

Nusa is still featuring regularly for Club Brugge and issues with his back and hamstring only kept him out briefly this season.

Now away with Norway for the international break, Nusa has been reflecting on his rather dramatic end to the summer transfer window.

Nusa has told VG that the situation was ‘quite difficult’ as he thought he was on the move, first to Tottenham, then to Brentford and then stuck in Belgium.

Nusa now claims to have had everything checked out and the issue raised in his Brentford medical ‘wasn’t really a problem’.

“At that moment it was quite difficult,” said Nusa. “You are so focused and ready for something to happen, but it didn’t happen anyway. Then it was difficult, of course. It is normal to feel it too.”

“So they got a little worried. It’s okay, that. We were obviously worried. Something was jarring. It was important to get to the bottom of it. We have done that now.”

“It’s about health, as it were. As a footballer, you want it to be 100 per cent. I was afraid that there was something wrong with my body. Those were difficult times. But it wasn’t really a problem. That’s what we found out,” he added.

Tottenham may well still be in the market for another wide man this summer, especially given Manor Solomon’s injury woes.

Nusa may still be on the radar, especially with technical director Johan Lange having his eyes across Scandinavia.

Swede Bergvall is signed up and Norwegian Nusa – a quick and dangerous left winger with outstanding dribbling ability – may yet be next.

Nusa’s medical issue may still scare some off, but we would imagine that Tottenham are at least looking into the situation ahead of the summer window.
