TalkSPORT pundit Ray Parlour has suggested Brendan Rodgers as a potential candidate for the Celtic manager’s job following the departure of Ange Postecoglou to Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Arsenal star has said on talkSPORT (8:26am, June 9, 2023) that Celtic have got to bring back Brendan Rodgers as the manager of the first team.
The Daily Record have reported that Rodgers is considering whether to take the Celtic managerial job if he gets the call.
Tottenham appointed Postecoglou as their head coach this week following his huge success with Celtic.
Parlour said about Celtic and their managerial search: “Brendan. It has got to be.”
Celtic should not bring back Brendan Rodgers
In our view, Celtic should not re-hire Brendan Rodgers as their next manager.
Okay, we know that Rodgers was hugely successful during his first spell as the Celtic manager.
The Hoops won the domestic treble twice under Rodgers and also played wonderful football.
However, we all know how Rodgers left Celtic when Leicester City came calling.
The former Liverpool manager did not finish the season.
Would Celtic fans really want the 50-year-old back at Celtic Park after the way he left?
We believe that just like the Celtic hierarchy did with Ange Postecoglou, they should bring in someone new who will come with his own ideas.
