Simon Jordan has claimed that it ‘doesn’t surprise’ him that Tottenham are trying to sign Emerson Royal on deadline day, as he told talkSPORT (31/08/21 at 10:50 am).
The former Crystal Palace owner thinks it proves that Daniel Levy and Spurs didn’t need to sell Harry Kane in order to splash the cash this summer.
After the well-documented drama surrounding Manchester City wanting to sign Kane, he confirmed on Twitter last week that he is staying put at Tottenham.
Now, on deadline day, it seems as though Barcelona defender, Emerson Royal, is swapping the Nou Camp for Hotspur Way.
TalkSport host Jim White and ex-owner Jordan reacted to the news about Emerson and Levy doing the talking on deadline day.
“Daniel is busy, isn’t he,” said White. “He has done well. He has held onto Kane and they are splashing the cash.”
Jordan responded: “It doesn’t surprise me because Tottenham have got some gaps to fill. And Harry Kane hasn’t been sold.
“People will look at it and say ‘the only way you were going to do business is by selling Kane’. There’s no reason for that.
“Tottenham have got money coming in. They have got a huge new stadium that needs servicing. But they also have a huge opportunity to fill it, so of course, they will be doing business.”

It wouldn’t be deadline day without Levy splashing the cash because Tottenham are always doing something.
And rumours are flying about on potential incomings and those who could be heading for the exit door.
Given that Emerson is a right-back, it has been suggested that someone like Matt Doherty could leave on deadline day.
It would be a surprise given that it’s Nuno Espirito Santo in the Tottenham dugout and he was the one who got the best out of the Irishman during their time at Wolves.
