Some Leeds United fans are far from happy after The Athletic reported that the club has been charged by the FA for failing to control their players against Chelsea at the weekend.
What’s the story with Leeds’ charge?
Tensions boiled over at the weekend between Leeds and Chelsea.
The Whites were on the wrong end of a last-minute penalty decision and Jorginho’s late spot-kick meant that Leeds lost 3-2 to their historic rivals.
Somewhat understandably, the players weren’t happy with the result and the way the penalty was won, and they made their feelings known on the pitch.
A mini-brawl erupted after the final whistle, and as you can imagine, the FA didn’t look too kindly upon this incident.
The Yorkshire club have been charged, and fans aren’t best pleased.
Leeds vs the FA
For one reason or another, Leeds fans absolutely despise any sort of authority figure in football.
For years we heard cries of ‘the Football League’s corrupt’ at Elland Road, while the Elland Road faithful are often the first to bemoan any fixture changes due to TV coverage.
To be fair, Leeds do often find themselves falling foul of the FA rules. They were charged back in 2019 for an incident against Bolton, while Victor Orta was given a stadium ban for confronting a match official in 2020.
Leeds fans do not like this type of thing, and they’ve once again made their displeasure known.
