Leicester City and Nottingham Forest hope to lure Roberto Gagliardini to the Premier League and Inter Milan are already in the process of identifying his replacement, according to Il Giorno.

With his contract expiring in July, and with Gagliardini making no secret of his desire to play more regularly than he currently is at the San Siro, only a dramatic U-turn will see the former Atalanta playmaker stay with the Nerazzuri at this stage.

Gagliardini has started only five games all season under Simone Inzaghi. Three of those coming in Serie A.

And, according to Il Giorno, via Inter News 24, the pursuit of a replacement is underway. Former Watford schemer Roberto Pereyra could be heading to San Siro following an outstanding campaign at Udinese.

The silky Argentine is ageing like a fine wine in Italy; scoring four times, setting up eight more and captaining Udinese to a famous 3-1 win over reigning Scudetto holders AC Milan before the international break.

Inter reportedly see Pereyra as a readymade replacement for Gagliardini. The former, meanwhile, is represented by Federico Pastorello; an agent who has an excellent relationship with those behind the scenes at the San Siro.

Gagliardini, meanwhile, could be on his way to England.

Leicester City recently made contract with Pastorello (FC Inter News); Gaglardini a potential successor for the similarly out-of-contract Youri Tielemans at the King Power Stadium. Do not rule out Nottingham Forest either. Leicester’s Midland rivals have spent big since promotion. And Gagliardini, who joined Inter Milan from Atalanta in a £20 million deal, could help Steve Cooper transition towards a more possession-based approach.

“I am no longer prepared to play so little,” the Bergamo-born 28-year-old tells Sky Italia. “Because I still feel that I am in good shape and have a lot more to give. I want to play and to make my qualities known.

“We’ll see what happens in June (when my deal runs out). I will make my decisions.”
