The agent of Udinese striker Beto is not surprised to hear that Premier League outfit Everton want him, speaking to Sport Italia.

The late-blooming 25-year-old, in the midst of his second Serie A season, continues to go from strength to strength.

His ninth goal in just 19 starts helped Udinese to a 3-1 victory over reigning Scudetto holders AC Milan on Friday night; another typically instinctive finish explaining why Everton appear to have identified Beto as a solution to their attacking woes.

The Toffees reportedly failed with a £20 million bid towards the end of the January transfer window (The Mirror). Udinese now want closer to £30 million (Mondo Udinese).

“Everyone sees what Beto is doing. We see it and the top clubs see it in the same way. His performance speaks for itself. This is that arouses the interest of big clubs. I find it normal,” says Paulo Regula, the striker’s representative.

“He maintained a high level after his injury last season. He’s come back well, slowly recovering his best form. Scoring goals. He’s a guy who always stays focused, focused on goals.”

Beto may be a potential successor for Victor Osimhen at runaway Serie A leaders Napoli; Udinese director Pierpaolo Marino admitting that his 6ft 4ins number nine is ‘very similar’ to the Manchester United target.

And Regula is confident that Beto can follow in Osimhen’s footsteps and become the most feared hitman in Italian football.

“I am extremely convinced of this,” the agent adds. “After going through a normal period of adaptation, after last year’s injury, Beto has shown certain numbers that prove just that; 9 goals and 1 assist this season are important numbers for a new boy in one of the best European leagues.”

In addition to Beto, Everton are also keen on Udinese team-mate Rodrigo Becao. The towering centre-half is out of contract in the summer of 2024. He appears to have little interest in signing an extension.

“Rodrigo is a player we would like to keep with us,” Marino adds. “We have an excellent relationship with him. We will try to do something in line with Udinese.”
