Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez has admitted he turned down approaches from the Saudi Pro League as he wants to stay at Inter this summer.
The player, who was once described by Lionel Messi as ‘spectacular‘, spoke to Gazzetta della Sport, and opened up about the possibility of moving to the Middle East, something that French star Kylian Mbappe could be doing soon, if reports from Sky Sports are to be believed.
“I received huge bids from Saudi clubs, ” Martinez admitted. “it’s true. But I’m very happy at Inter and in Milano, no chance for me and no reason to change”.
The forward was instrumental as the Italian side reached the UEFA Champions League final and was superb in both legs against their arch-rivals AC Milan in April last season.
Martinez has been at Inter since 2018 and scored 21 goals and provided six assists for the Italian giants last season and was instrumental to Simon Inzaghi’s side throughout the campaign.
‘Inter is my second home’
One thing is clear from watching the Argentine ply his trade for Inter, the forward loves the club. The passion, the aggressiveness, and the quality that he brings to the front line for the Italian side cannot be understated.
The forward has consistently scored more than twenty goals a season for Inter and it is clear that he wants to stay in Milan for a long time.

“I’m the captain here, Inter is my second home. I feel loved here since day one. I’m proud to be here”, the Argentine told Gazzetta. So a move to the Saudi Pro League certainly seems unlikely for the 25-year-old at the peak of his powers.
With the raft of players making the switch to the Middle East, it seems almost surprising that Martinez would turn down such a lucrative pay increase, as so many players in Europe have seemingly been wooed by the money on offer by the Saudi Pro League and the prospect of being part of a new exciting league.
