Jody Morris has tipped Tottenham Hotspur transfer target James Ward-Prowse to thrive at David Moyes’ West Ham United.

The former Chelsea coach thinks that the Southampton captain will be an ‘intelligent’ signing for West Ham United.

Morris added that, for a number of years now, not many midfield players have been as ‘consistent’ as James Ward-Prowse, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (09/08/23 at 7:30 pm).

That’s why the England international was very much sought-after following Southampton’s relegation to the Championship, including claims that Tottenham were looking to hijack a deal for the player.

Well, it seems as though the Hammers, after losing Declan Rice this summer, are set to secure his talents

This is a very good move by the London club and Jody Morris gave his seal of approval.

“If you are looking for consistency over the last 10-11 years as a midfielder,” said Morris.

“Then there aren’t many that have performed well for that amount of time consistently well than James Ward-Prowse.

“I know he has been involved in a team that maybe the pressure isn’t for them to be winning things or pushing higher up the table.

“He certainly never lowered his standards, whether Southampton have been in relegation battles or struggling. I think he has been one of the players to stand up and produce has been James Ward-Prowse. It’s an intelligent signing from West Ham. When you look at it, from a set-piece aspect, then David Moyes will be licking his lips. A really good move and I think he will do well there.”

Ings and Ward-Prowse reunion

The duo played alongside each other at St Mary’s, which saw Danny Ings thrive and produce some of his best football.

The former Liverpool and Aston Villa man hasn’t had the best of starts at the London Stadium, but with pre-season under his belt, he will be hoping to showcase his goalscoring magic.

And you can bet your bottom dollar that Ward-Prowse will be feeding him for fun from the get-go.
