Tottenham Hotspur want James Ward-Prowse and are plotting a move to hijack West Ham United’s pursuit of the midfielder.
Southampton ace James Ward-Prowse is emerging as a prime Tottenham Hotspur target in the final month of the transfer window.
That is according to the Daily Star, who claim that Tottenham are now ready to make a move to sign Ward-Prowse.
It’s suggested that Tottenham scouted Ward-Prowse on a number of occasions towards the end of last season.
West Ham have been desperate to sign Ward-Prowse but have yet to find an agreement with Southampton.
Sky Sports reported last week that West Ham had offered £30million for Ward-Prowse with Southampton saying no, demanding £40million.
That means Tottenham are now plotting to hijack West Ham and make a move to bring Ward-Prowse to North London.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou allegedly believes that Ward-Prowse is the ideal addition for his Tottenham midfield.

Tottenham could go through midfield changes but James Ward-Prowse deal would be a surprise
Spurs have already added one new midfielder this summer with James Maddison arriving from Leicester City.
There may be scope to add one more midfielder but would Tottenham really pay £40million for Ward-Prowse?
Sure, Ward-Prowse is an incredible set-piece taker and has been praised as ‘unbelievable’ by Oriol Romeu having given incredible service to Southampton.

However, he turns 29 in November and splashing £40million on a player at that age doesn’t seem like something we will see in this new Spurs era.
Tanguy Ndombele will surely move on and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg could go to Atletico Madrid too.
Postecoglou still has the likes of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, Oliver Skipp and Giovani Lo Celso whilst Rodrigo Bentancur will come back from injury this season.
Spurs may look for a new midfield addition but Ward-Prowse would be a surprise addition over other linked players like Reo Hatate and Alex Scott.
