The Caitlin Clark-Alyssa Thomas controversy continues to go viral.
The Phoenix Mercury’s two-point win over the Indiana Fever has been overshadowed because of what Alyssa Thomas did to Caitlin Clark in the second quarter of the matchup.
Thomas put her fist to Clark’s neck when the Fever star was trying to drive the basketball in the paint. Despite the refs initially ignoring the foul, Thomas was handed a flagrant 2 foul after heavy scrutiny from fans.
One may assume that’s the end of the story, but that’s far from true as even the Indiana Attorney General is not happy with the punishment that Thomas received.

Indiana AG Todd Rokita questions the WNBA’s punishment for Alyssa Thomas
Aside from getting a flagrant 2 foul assessment, Thomas was handed a one-game suspension by the WNBA for her brutal act against Clark.
However, most WNBA fans weren’t satisfied with this punishment, including Indiana AG Todd Rokita, who questioned it on X.
“Only a one-game suspension?” Rokita asked on X.
While Rokita didn’t launch a scathing attack on X, it was clear that the Indiana AG wants a harsher punishment for Thomas.
Right now, the WNBA has maintained its silence on further punishment for Thomas, but it’s hard to see fans being satisfied unless the Mercury star is heavily fined and receives a multi-game suspension.
Caitlin Clark to miss time after Alyssa Thomas incident
A major reason why fans are angry with Thomas is what happened to Clark after the incident. It was reported that Clark will be out of Fever’s upcoming clash against the Los Angeles Sparks.
Fever head coach Stephanie White did reveal that the team will be cautious with Clark and won’t rush her return to the court.
“She’s OK. She’s gonna be out on Saturday, but she’s doing alright,” White said. “No indication [of how long she’ll be out]. Obviously, it’s a good time because we have all week next week.”
White added, “So, we’ll take this opportunity just to get her treatment, get her healthy, get her back on the floor and see what happens.”
Either way, Clark’s elongated absence is only adding fuel to the fire in regard to Thomas’ unwarranted altercation with the Fever superstar.
