Erik Lamela might have left Tottenham in the summer, but the Argentina attacker is keeping his legacy with the north London side intact after the forward was nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award.
Announced yesterday on FIFA’s official website, the Sevilla star made the 11-player shortlist with his brilliant Rabona goal against Arsenal last season, with Lamela’s strike one of the most unique that has been nominated this year.
Indeed, the La Liga winger could consider himself one of the favourites for the Puskas Award, mainly due to the quality and audacity of the goal as well as the occasion in which the strike took place.
Whilst Lamela was sent off later in that fixture and Arsenal went on to win 2-1, there’s no denying that the moment will be long remembered as one of the great North London Derby goals.
Lamela’s outlandish attempts on goal is what made the former AS Roma star such a fan favourite in north London. And it is fitting that one of his last great moments for the club is now up for a major FIFA award.
With the Puskas Award fan-voted, there’s a strong chance that Lamela could win the accolade, with Heung-min Son winning it last year for his solo goal against Burnley in the 2019/20 season.
Spurs fans want Lamela to win Puskas Award

As you would expect, it wasn’t much of a surprise to see Lamela as one of the finalists for the Puskas Award. And Spurs fans on social media are keen for the South American to win the trophy.
The goal was one of the most memorable of last season. And Tottenham supporters are desperate for Lamela to win the Puskas Award even after leaving the club.
