Jose Enrique has stated that Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Sofyan Amrabat would be an ‘incredible signing’ for Liverpool, as he posted on Instagram.

The former Liverpool left-back pointed out that Jurgen Klopp ‘needs a number eight’, but added to that, he also needs someone who can play that number six role.

During Morocco’s historic 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar, Amrabat showcased those skills time and time again, hence why the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham are now keen on signing the Fiorentina midfielder.

Those on Merseyside are probably more desperate for Amrabat’s signature because, over in north London, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are at the top of their game, with the former being one of the top midfielders in Europe right now.

Either way, whoever lands Amrabat’s signature will be getting a midfielder that is right at the top of his game and Enrique is excited that he could be landing on Liverpool’s doorstep.

“If this is true, he will be an incredible signing for us,” said Enrique. “We need a number 8, but a number 6 as well.

“He has 1 year left on his contract in the summer, so the price should be in our range of price, so hopefully, this is true because he is a top player and I really like him.”

AMRABAT DESERVES STEP UP

Morocco’s run to the last-four of the World Cup is a moment that will be remembered in decades to come because they were the first African nation to do so.

And someone like Amrabat has played a big part in that. He now deserves that step up in his career, and at the age of 26, he is at the peak of his powers.

Liverpool are crying out for a player of his ilk because Jordan Henderson isn’t getting any younger, whilst Fabinho’s form has dropped and others within the team, such as Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, just can’t stay out of the treatment room.
