“Incredible”: Robbie Keane can’t believe what has happened to £22m Tottenham man

Robbie Keane has been speaking to talkSPORT after hearing that Tottenham star Heung-min Son had been left out of the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.

What’s the story?

Well, the PFA Premier League Team of the Year was released earlier this week, and remarkably, the Spurs No.7 was nowhere to be seen.

Son’s fellow professionals opted for Sadio Mane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah to fill the three attacking positions, despite the South Korea international winning the Premier League Golden Boot.

Unsurprisingly, Keane is baffled. Speaking to talkSPORT, the 41-year-old said: “How Son has not got into the Team of the Year is remarkable to me. They should have a good look at themselves. He was top goalscorer, level with Salah, no penalties and to not even be considered for Player of the Year is incredible.”

It simply makes no sense.

As Keane states, Son didn’t even score a single penalty this season, which makes his haul of 23 Premier League goals all the more impressive.

We simply cannot understand how the 29-year-old has been left out.

Hopefully, Son can use his exclusion from the PFA Premier League Team of the Year as fuel to become even better next season, as Tottenham return to the Champions League.

Does Heung-Min Son need to leave Tottenham?

In our view, Son would get far more recognition for his qualities if he wasn’t playing alongside Harry Kane.

Of course, we are by no means blaming the England international for Son being ignored, although it certainly evokes similar feelings to when Neymar left Barcelona to escape the shadow of Lionel Messi.

Hopefully, Son doesn’t end up leaving Tottenham for similar reasons, as it would be a tremendous loss for English football if the £22m man decided to move overseas.

Gary Neville also believes Son gets overshadowed at Tottenham.

Now, Antonio Conte needs to put his arm around the South Korean, and inspire him to do it all over again next season – if he does, there is simply no way he can be ignored again.
