Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has raved about Jakub Kiwior on the club’s official website and said that the defender will “redefine” the way the Gunners play their football.

Arteta has said that Kiwior has “incredible potential” and has backed the 22-year-old Poland international central defender to be a huge success at Arsenal.

The Gunners signed Kiwior from Italian club Spezia in the January transfer window.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal paid £21 million in transfer fees for the left-footed centre-back.

Arteta said about Kiwior: “With Jakub, he is a young talent with incredible potential that is going to help redefine our way of playing, and we didn’t have a backup centre-back for the whole season, and with Jorginho, he is a player that speaks for himself. When you look at his CV, his playing record, his quality – I think we’ve made some really good decisions there.”

Huge praise

It seems that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta really likes Jakub Kiwior.

Saying that the youngster will redefine the way Arsenal play is some praise indeed.

It must be very exciting for Arsenal fans to hear that.

Now, Kiwior will take some time to get used to the Premier League and to Arteta’s playing time.

And he is only 22.

So, we should not heap pressure on the Poland international right now.

Arsenal do have a very good defensive unit, and there is no need for Arteta to tinker with it.

However, Kiwior will provide a back-up option for Arteta, as Arsenal aim to win the Premier League title this season.

Having depth in a squad going for the league title is immensely important.
