Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Duncan Castles has made a claim about Liverpool’s January transfer budget.

The Reds are well and truly in a title race, and in order to get the better of Chelsea and Man City, they may need to strengthen in the winter window.

Castles claims that the Merseyside club are looking for a versatile attacker, and he states that the club have a substantial budget ready to spend.

What’s been said about Liverpool’s budget?

Castles shared what he knows about the Reds’ transfer plans.

“That’s the aim, they’re looking for a forward who can play across any of the front three positions, I’m told that there is a substantial budget in place if they can find the right player in the January window, which is not easy in normal circumstances, but you do have pandemic conditions as an assistance here and you have a lot of clubs in Europe who are open to bringing revenue in, so you may be able to do things you can’t do normally,” Castles said.

Exciting

This is incredibly exciting to hear if you’re a Liverpool fan.

The Reds haven’t spent big in a window for a little while, but it sounds as though a blockbuster signing could be on its way.

The Anfield outfit certainly need a new attacker, and while quality forwards don’t come cheap, it sounds as though they’re willing to splash the cash in order to make these necessary improvements to their playing squad.

It remains to be seen who Liverpool sign, but don’t be shocked if they bring in a big name in January.
