Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is finally heading back to Glasgow after Colombia’s Copa America campaign came to an end in the early hours of this morning – with El Bufalo once again left kicking his heels as an unused substitute.
After picking up only 8 minutes of game time in the competition, there was some hope from Rangers fans that Morelos would get the nod against Peru in the third-placed playoff but a place on the bench was as good as it got for Morelos.
Las Cafeteros picked up a 3-2 win to secure third at Copa America, coming back from a goal down thanks to a double from Porto striker Porto forward Luis Diaz either side a Juan Cuadrado goal.
With Morelos reportedly wanted by Porto as his agent touts him across Europe, Rangers fans are desperate to see the Ibrox talisman return to Glasgow ahead of the new season getting underway.
Three weeks until Rangers start competitive games
With three weeks until Rangers play their first competitive game of the season, there should be plenty of time for Morelos to get up to speed with his club mates.
While the Colombian will be given a short break before returning to training, his lack of action at Copa America should stand Rangers in good stead.
