Watford have confirmed the signing of former Rangers forward Dapo Mebude on a two-year deal – and Gers fans on Twitter have been full of praise for the 19-year-old striker.
Mebude left Ibrox at the end of last season when his contract with the Light Blues came to an end but the Premier League new boys have wasted no time in snapping him up.
After his move was confirmed by Watford, the striker becomes the latest Gers Academy graduate to head to a Premier League side, joining the likes of Billy Gilmour at Chelsea and younger brother Dire at Man City.
The forward spent time on loan at Queen of the South last season, scoring twice in eleven appearances for the Doonhamers, but his spell in Dumfries was disrupted after he was suspended over a breach in Covid regulations.
While it seems unlikely the teen will join Watford’s first-team squad initially, he’s shown enough in his time at Ibrox to suggest he could be there sooner rather than later.
A Scotland youth international at various age groups, Mebude has a fantastic goalscoring record at youth level and regularly impressed in the Academy sides at Rangers.
Fans on Twitter were sad to see him go and think the Hornets have landed a fantastic signing in Mebude.
Here are some of the comments from Rangers fans after Mebude’s move to Watford was confirmed:
